Dave Willis : Mandolin, Vocals
Dave's been around music his entire life. Having endured the required piano lessons at a young age, he moved on to
play saxophone through the end of high school. He took up the guitar a year later, and upon realizing that
everybody played guitar he decided to try something different. After hearing David Grisman's playing
with "Old & In The Way"
he decided that he'd try the mandolin. He
quickly set up camp as he realized that this was the instrument for him. Dave's musical influences
include bluegrass, newgrass, jazz,
and jam-band related music.

Joel Adamson : Banjo, Vocals
Joel formed Heartwood Hollow in 2002 to bring unadulterated bluegrass music to a
new generation of music-lovers. After enjoying Bernie Leadon's back-up banjo for The Eagles, Joel received
his Alvarez Denver Belle banjo as a gift after a minor car accident in 1998. He signed up for lessons having
not even heard bluegrass music, but he was hooked after hearing "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" on a Mercury/Pickwick
compilation album that included Flatt and Scruggs and the Stanley Brothers. His style has been called "straight-ahead";
his most important influences are Earl Scruggs, J.D. Crowe and Ronnie Stuart. His favorite bluegrass artists
(besides Flatt and Scruggs and Bill Monroe) are Rhonda Vincent, J.D. Crowe and the New South and Bob Paisley and
the Southern Grass.

Nancy Steinberger : Fiddle, Vocals
Nancy is also a survivor of piano lessons starting at the age of 4, and then seized the opportunity to
switch to violin in grade school. Her great aunt had a full-sized violin which was too big, so Nancy
hung her left arm off the bed at night to make it stretch. It worked - just ask her to show you.
Classically trained at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Michigan School of Music,
she also plays bluegrass and jazz fiddle as a creative outlet. In addition to playing with Heartwood
Hollow, Nancy continues to perform with the Ft. Collins Symphony and in local string quartets.
